Your interior doors will often see more traffic than your exterior doors, which is why it's important to choose the proper doors for your home. There are two primary types of interior doors, flush doors and panel doors. Flush doors describe flat doors with smooth surfaces that can be painted or stained. While these doors can be solid, they are generally hollow core doors which reduce the price, making them the most affordable doors available on the market. They are also generally not hardwood, but veneered to provide the appearance of hardwood.
Panel doors refer to those with horizontal rails and vertical stiles. These work to raise panels and to create designs in the door's appearance. There are some functional differences between the doors, which cause the price variations. Panel doors are generally higher priced as they involve more woodworking. But, many homeowners prefer these doors as they offer a greater degree of sound barrier between rooms.
