Whether you are looking to reduce your household budget or to live a more sustainable lifestyle to support the environment, implementing energy saving tips within your home can be quick and easy, and can provide cost saving results.
One easy thing you can do to save money and reduce your carbon footprint is teach your family to turn off lights within a room when it’s not in use. Another easy tip is to purchase energy saving appliances and gadgets. For example, updating your refrigerator, washer and dryer, dishwasher or even your small appliances can reduce the amount of energy consumed annually and your annual electric bill. A practice that homeowners and commercial businesses are starting to leverage is called daylighting. This practice suggests that you leverage natural light sources to light a room rather than turning to sources such as lights or lamps for the same light.
To reduce the amount of money you spend on heating and cooling, consider updating any old draughty windows with new energy efficient replacement windows. They will pay for themselves over time with the money you save on your heating and cooling bills, and it’s better for the environment. Any of these tips are easy to implement and have a positive impact on the environment and your pocketbook.
