Softer than marble, limestone flooring has been around for centuries, adding charm to rustic homes and glamorous estates. When installed and sealed by expert flooring professionals, limestone holds up exceptionally well under normal wear and tear. Classic in look and appeal, limestone is a natural flooring used in entry halls, kitchens, bedrooms, baths, and patios. It is sold in slabs or tiles and requires professional installation because it's expensive to repair if cracked or broken.
Tiles come with unique, natural patterns, so no two floors are the same. Limestone flooring is available in an extensive range of colors, can be used outdoors, and is easy to maintain. You can clean it by sweeping and mopping with a mild detergent. Naturally stain and moisture resistant, limestone also resists allergens and bacteria.
But limestone flooring does require re-sealing every few years to protect it from stains or scratches. It is highly reactive to acids, so instant cleanup of spills may be essential in keeping up the flooring. You can use a pH-neutral stone cleanser and toothbrush to clean minor stains. Floor steamers (available from rental shops) are great at lifting embedded grit and dirt.
