Once you have installed gutters on your property, there are some basic maintenance or repair steps which you will want to become familiar with. Maintaining your gutters will extend the life of the system and your investment. When gutters do not lay flush against the home, they will not effectively catch rainwater which can cause moisture to damage your home's exterior. Here are some basic gutter maintenance/repair tips to ensure that their functionality remains strong over time:
-Physically inspect them annually to determine if they are laying flush against your home. If they aren't laying flush, determine if there is a bend in the gutter, a missing bolt or something else causing the problem so you can address it with the proper repair technique.
-Clean your gutters on an annual basis to prevent blockage. In some instances, you will find blockage in the downspouts which can be fixed by simply removing the caught materials. Most gutter systems will last 20 years or longer when properly maintained.
