There are probably as many reasons not to hire cleaning services as there are reasons to hire them. Things like expense, strangers in your home, and security are some of the main reasons people don't hire a maid service. However there are certain advantages as well, such as extra time with family and an allergen-free home (virtually). Let's look more in-depth at some of the advantages and disadvantages of professional house-cleaning companies.
Of course, the biggest advantage of professional house cleaning services is that you don't have to do it yourself. Often, people choose to use a service because they simply don't have the time to do a thorough house cleaning more than every couple months. It is much easier and less time consuming to have someone come in once a week; an already clean house is easier to maintain. Another advantage to this option is that hired professionals are just that and are less likely to cut corners than you, the average homeowner; they are also up-to-date on all of the latest cleaning techniques and products.
House cleaning services have some disadvantages, as well, such as the cost, which is a huge put-off for many people. Paying someone $200 a week to come in and clean your house once or twice seems like a huge waste of money to many. Another reason people choose not to hire someone is that they have security concerns, which are justifiable in many cases; most companies require background checks, but that doesn't always guarantee anything. The last disadvantage, kind of along the same lines as security, is that a stranger is coming into your home when you are (most likely) not there. It's not a trust issue so much as it is one of privacy; many people simply do not like the thought of someone coming into their home.
