Many homeowners give little thought to many of the expenses of owning a home, until a major appliance needs to be fixed. HVAC is an acronym that stands for "heating, ventilating, and air conditioning”, it is a key component to making sure that a home is comfortable to live in. The ongoing maintenance required over the long term to keep the property in ideal condition often includes HVAC. From installation to repair, it’s important to do your research and make wise decision about HVAC in your home.
While many home repair or maintenance projects are affordable, small and can be budgeted for over time, there are a few projects in which can dent a pocketbook. HVAC (air conditioning), roofing, water heaters, foundation issues and flooring projects are among the most expensive maintenance issues a homeowner may face.
Consider working with an HVAC professional and purchasing a warranty. While some of the projects above do not have a warranty available, in many cases you can purchase a home warranty which will cover all or a portion of your HVAC expenses. When purchasing a home, inquire into the possibility of adding this warranty to your purchase price. In most cases, these warranties will provide funding for major repairs assuming that the homeowner continued to maintain this system over time. The small expense of obtaining a HVAC warranty initially may be well worth it over time if you have repair issues.
