Air Conditioning recycles the air in your home and cools it down. In the process, mold, dust and excess moisture is filtered out of the air. A proper air conditioning system can keep you home cool and comfortable on hot, sticky days. An inadequate or broken air conditioning system, however, will become an expensive source of frustration. So, if you need to add, replace or upgrade an air conditioning system, do you understand your options?
Window mounted air conditioners are perfect for single rooms or small areas. The unit usually plugs into a wall outlet and fits into an open window. Window mounted units are removed during the winter in some areas. Window air conditioning units are convenient and inexpensive, but if you are trying to cool too large an area, a window unit will definitely raise your electric bill.
These air conditioning systems are a more efficient option for larger houses. A split system consists of two separate units; a condenser unit outside the home, and an air handling unit inside the home. Splitting the system into two units raises the cool air capacity of the air handling unit, and moves the noisy condenser outside the house. Split systems are more expensive and not remotely portable, as they are hard wired into the home, and usually integrated into the heating system as well.
The right air conditioning system creates a comfortable oasis when the rest of your world is a sweltering mess. The wrong air conditioning system will create hot and cold pockets in your house and send your electric bill through the roof. Make sure you have the proper one!
