Large kitchen islands are not necessarily only for large kitchens. Don't let a lack of space stop you from installing a kitchen island. In the case of this kitchen, the island transforms it from a barely functional cooking space to professional-grade kitchen. Proving that you don't need to have a huge space to create a great kitchen, this design packs a lot of top-end appliances into a small area. The large, marble-topped island provides both an eating area and a large work space, complete with an undermount sink. Anchoring the cooking area is a large commercial-grade gas range covered by a stainless steel range hood, below which is a commercial-grade oven. The second oven, which includes a warming drawer, helps make up for this kitchen's small size, making it possible to cook for large groups despite the limited space. Glass front cabinets and the light-colored tile back splash help to keep the room bright, and create the illusion of greater space. Finally, the built-in, bottom mounted refrigerator provides abundant food storage space without eating up any of the kitchen's floor space. A good example of you can have the latest appliances, yet retain the feel of a quaint country kitchen.
