Open floor plans allow families to be together even when they're not all doing the same thing. This kitchen carves its own niche, but still remains a part of the larger room. This kitchen, though located in a residence, features a lot of professional-quality appliances. Most notable is the commercial-grade range that features multiple burners and is covered by a brushed steel hood with integrated lighting. The side-by-side refrigerator (which is hiding behind the urn of flowers) is likewise commercial grade, and has a brushed steel finish that matches the range and the range hood. The kitchen also features marble counter tops that include a wide overhang supported by wood corbels at the near end, providing ample space for bar stools if desired. The floor is travertine tile throughout both the kitchen and eating area. Lighting is provided from recessed jar lights in the ceiling as well as under cabinet lights on either side of the range, the latter of which highlights the yellow tile backsplash. The maple cabinets feature solid fronts in the middle, and glass fronts at the ends as well as on the back side cabinets on the perimeter.
