If it is time to replace your roof, it will be beneficial to the overall process if you learn some of the basic terms before shopping for products or professional installers. Here are some easy steps to follow when replacing your roof:
1. Calculate the square footage of the roof area, not the square footage of your property. Note- typically the square footage of your roof is larger than that of your home.
2. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of various roof materials available on the market. Consider the price, durability, installation requirements and ongoing maintenance suggestions.
3. Once you have chosen your roofing materials, you will want to compare pricing between several vendors to ensure that you are receiving a competitive price.
Replacing your roof is typically only required every 15-50 years, depending upon the materials. If you are required to replace your roof, consider the longevity of the materials being installed to reduce the likelihood that you will need to replace it again in the future.
