Home Improvement Photos
If you have single hung windows, the frames will require ongoing painting maintenance. Painting window molding is time consuming, but rewarding as it will improve the appearance of your home. Before you begin to repaint your single hung windows, be sure to complete the preparation steps. First, you need to thoroughly clean the windows and frames. A scrubbing brush is ideal for removing dirt and debris. While pressure washers are ideal for other home improvement projects, the water pressure may be too great for windows, causing unintended leaks to develop.
If while cleaning your windows you notice mold, you can apply a formula of bleach and water to the surface to remove it. If there is old, loose paint on the windows, you will need to scrape it off before painting. Last but not least, you will want to address any structural issues or caulking issues you find around the windows. Completing these steps will ensure that you have properly maintained your single hung windows.
